Detailed reception reports and comments about this beam:

2016-01-05 16:43:49aranycsapat (39N-8.4E,110cm) Con Toroidale (centro 13E) ricevo praticamente tutto il beam europa con buon segnale e visione anche con tempo brutto. With torodial T90 (center 13E) I receive all transporders of europe Beam at good signal and quality, it works good, also, in bad wheater conditions.

2010-11-19 18:10:46marghera62 (44.8N-13.3E,100cm) ? da Marghera-Venezia con parabola da 100 LNB Humax 0,2 ricevitore e abbonamento originali Canal Digital si riceve forte NRK1 reserve sui 12418,00 V, sui 11372,00 V segnale quasi nullo, qualcuno riceve buon segnale con parabola da 120?

2010-07-27 21:13:01fanzi (34.3N-34.4E,180cm) for 11938 h 28000 too strong signal

2010-04-18 11:43:12athensat (-,180cm) No ew 73006.For the Thor5 and 6 complex you need more than 4,50m.dish.Easier is Thor5 with 3,70cm dish horizontal polarization. For Thor6 you need dish between 4,50m and 6,30m.for the scandinavian channels.

2010-04-18 11:23:05ew73006 (-,0cm) Hi, we can receive in western part of Crete thor 5 frequensy down to 11247 V - it with a 180 Prodelin - the question is - will I be able to receive more channelse with a bigger dish(thor 6 etc)

2010-04-15 05:50:28nordligvind (43.6N-26E,85cm) Les répéteurs de polarisation verticale sont disponibles avec un Triax TD78. Aucun signal sur les répéteurs de polarisation horizontale.

2010-02-08 17:47:23hawklord (50N-5.3W,110cm) ? Very high signal whatever the weather at Lands End, 1.1 Triax, 0.1db LNB and Dreambox

2010-01-09 08:47:15Audrius (-,0cm) Normal

2009-12-26 00:47:42mido vie (31N-30.6E,130cm) انا من القاهره استقبل الترددات ماعدا h 28000 11747

2009-12-16 10:28:09athensat (-,180cm) In Athens the signal in thor 5 T1 satellite is more strong about 2 db.

2009-11-12 17:08:07athensat (-,180cm) deepbluesky.I think 2.40cm dish is right for Rome.Rome is more north and west than us.In nothern Italy you can receive Thor 5 even with GibbertiniOP150.

2009-11-12 15:51:41deepbluesky (49N-9.3E,0cm) ? athensat probably 2.40m are just right for Rome according to some reports from the North of Italy where signal degrades quite quickly moving South. Though for detailed examination I'd recommend to contact the local DXers here as well: http://www.digital-forum.it/showthread.php?t=53338&highlight=thor+5

2009-11-10 07:19:47athensat (-,180cm) hansth.Unfortunately thor5 is very difficault satellite for the south countries of Europe.Decoder and LNB they dont play any role.

2009-11-09 21:56:25hansth (42N-13.4E,90cm) ? athensat. Thx...anything else I need to think of or can I use the LNB and decoder that was provided to me in the package from Canal Digital?

2009-11-09 19:23:18athensat (-,180cm) hansth.Propably THOR 5 for Rome reqouires dish 2.40cm for the swedish channels

2009-11-09 15:08:41hansth (42N-13.4E,90cm) ? Hi. I am new to this Forum. Just moved to Rome where I expected it should be smoth to align the existing parabol (90cm) to Thor, plug in my reciver (the one I got from canal Digital) and watch Swedish TV. As I did in Prague. Even after consulting the local installation guy it dosent work. Can anyone give me advice on what type of equipment I need in order to be successful. BR /Hans

2009-08-21 13:59:47thefog79 (31.2N-34.5E,180cm) ? هل يمكن استقبال قمر thor5 0.8w فى فلسطين بصحن قطر 180

2009-07-27 18:37:12deepbluesky (49N-9.3E,0cm) ? Very kind of you athensat. Since we're leaving the Thor 5 topic it would be better to go on discussing in the particular places on this site or maybe you could contact me by mail if it's easier for you: deepbluesky_dx @ yahoo.de But i do believe that it would be more helpful for others to follow an open discussion. The satellites i am seeking reliable information for about the reception in Attica region are Astra 2D and 3A of which i only roughly have been advised that 5m can give a result but never it was guaranteed since far out of footprint. Best regards.

2009-07-27 14:48:53athensat (-,180cm) deepbluesky tell me about the satellites you are looking for.I have a fleet with 8 dishes and i receive 17 satellites.

2009-07-26 21:27:58deepbluesky (49N-9.3E,0cm) ? Thanks very much for all the information athensat. I'm sure there are quite some Expats from Scandinavia living in the Athens area that will follow your dish size recommendation. I would be glad if you could also offer some help for other critical satellites in Athens since you have access to these rarely used bigger sizes by private persons.

2009-07-22 21:47:25athensat (-,180cm) deepbluesky dish 370cm in Thor5 gives the same result in Athens such as you have a 90cm dish in Oslo..The scandinavians have different culture than other Europeans, and You can say that they are more closed society, Canal digital is obviously afraid of illegal card distibution .

2009-07-22 13:59:16deepbluesky (49N-9.3E,0cm) ? So you have seen with your own eyes that a 3.70m Andrew/Prodelin or other high quality dish in Athens guarantees 24/7 reception of all Thor 5 T1 Beam Horizontals, right ? Of course the explanation for restricting the coverage always deals with right issues but in the case of Canal Digital i don't see any problem at all since all the critical content is encrypted anyway. How can so many other PayTV packages be received far outside of the forseen area ? Take Sky Italia which covers Western Africa up to Pakistan quite well, not to speak of whole Europe. Looks that they got pressure from somebody.

2009-07-20 14:59:02athensat (-,180cm) deepbluesky in Athens the limit to receive all Thor 5 is 310cm and i mean limit. If you are lover of the perfection then you need 370cm.Think that a Channel Master dish 300cm cannot give the 11325h in the capital,so you really need professional dish.in Crete the limit to receive the satellite is 400cm.I can tell you also that scandinavian citizens are very unhappy because in the past they could receive Thor2 with 240cm or 110cm the basic package. In a friendly discussion with the former Finnish ambassador mr Norback i asked him why Telenor left out of the coverage the European South? The respond was that all have to do with the rights. If they want to saw all over Europe their programm they must pay extra the companies and the film studios and that immediattly will pass to the subscribers in Scandinavia.Think that the most expensive package in Finland is 49Euro per month with hd channels and the local package 7Euro per month.

2009-07-19 19:11:53deepbluesky (49N-9.3E,0cm) ? athensat, the story with the embassies i have heard before but was not sure if this is a rumor or just a sidelobe that covers Athens better by chance. I also believe quite some hotels in the Southern Agean are paying subscribers of Canal Digital for many years so these should be covered inofficially. Anyway, you did not write which diameter will guarantee the reception of all Horizontals in Athens 24h/7d. Do we speak of 3m, 3.70m or 4.50m ? No doubt that i'm always talking about high quality solid dishes for professional use.

2009-07-17 19:53:02athensat (-,180cm) deepbluesky the reason that the horizontal transporders in the capital is little better than in the northern part of the country have to do with the coverage of the scandinavian embassys in Athens and also to receive stable this satellite you need compact dish high quality of the matterial and big diameter

2009-07-17 18:46:15deepbluesky (49N-9.3E,0cm) ? I see. Are you aware of the size needed in Athens for the rest of Thor 5 T1 Beam Horizontal frequencies ? Of course i mean 24/7 reception even under hot or rainy weather conditions.

2009-07-17 14:39:54athensat (-,180cm) deepbluesky the famaval ARIS dish in Athens and i mean diameter 240cm gives only one horizontal transporder11229H.

2009-07-17 14:25:25athensat (-,180cm) the dish which is give this result in the area of Athens is the dish PATRIOT in the studios of STAR channel

2009-07-16 19:33:11deepbluesky (49N-9.3E,0cm) ? @athensat: Obviously you mean Thor 5, the rest is very easy to catch even with <1m. Have you seen on your own that a 3.10m (Aris/Famaval?) gets also the Horizontals ? I'm asking because the same size 20km West of Thessaloniki did not get the most difficult 11325H. The other H's very received in much colder weather on the very limit. Is the situation better in Athens ?

2008-05-06 00:47:46fchristi (46.5N-8.9E,120cm) Karsten - as mentioned I managed with 120 cm but its extremely sensitive and loses signal my the dlightest wind gust. If you can, go for a 150. By NO means below 120!! The LNB is almost set to 0 degrees. My primary frequency of interest is the 11216V.

2008-05-05 23:43:40Branko (42.4N-19.2E,120cm) ? Excellent reception 11216V,11229H,11247V,11261H,11278V, 24500 7/8 all on Thor-5 T1 beam

The 120 cm dish is ugly but does the job here in Switzerland/Zug/Baar/Langgasse 53. I get all the channels offered by Canal Digital on Thor 2,3,5 - especially 5 which is the challenging one. /Fredrik
